Sweet Leaf Stevia Seeds
About- Stevia is an herb with a wonderful flavor and many great uses! This perennial can be used as a natural alternative to sugar in desserts or drinks.
When and Where to Plant- Start seeds indoors six to eight weeks before last frost. Plant 2-3 seeds per cell to ensure a viable plant in each cell. Transplant out after danger of frost has passed. Grows best in a warm location with well-drained but moist soil.
Care and Harvest- Avoid nitrogen-rich fertilizers, as they cause the plant to produce large leaves with little flavor. Pick in the morning and before flowering occurs for the highest sugar content. Leaves may be harvested throughout the season once the plant has become established. To dry, hang small bunches of stems in a well-ventilated, dry location out of direct sunlight. Dried leaves may be ground into powder for storage.
