About- Produces large bulbs, averaging 5" in diameter, that are globular in shape. The bulb is encased in thin, papery, light brown to yellow layers with white, firm and juicy flesh.
When and where to plant- Start indoors 10-12 weeks before last frost. Keep plants trimmed to 4-6" to prevent them from laying over. Transplant into garden around last frost date, taking care not to damage the roots. Onions require abundant sun and good drainage. Grow best when the soil pH range is between 6 and 6.8.
Care and Harvest- Fertilize with nitrogen and water often throughout the growing season. harvest after bulbs begin to "size up" but before they bloom. For storage, pull bulbs and allow to cure 2-3 weeks in a well ventilated location. Trim tops to 1" and store in a cool, dry, dark location.
