At Rohrer Seeds our tomato seed selection is incredibly wide and every single variety is extremely high quality! Our tomatoes come in multiple different varieties and colors. Each different type of tomato is best for a different type of use as well. Each of the three main varieties will have different color options and size varieties as well to best suit your needs and preferences.

Cherry tomatoes - great producers with a bright, citrus flavor that stand out in salads. Our most recommended variety is the Super Sweet 100.

Paste tomatoes - are typically longer in shape and best used for cooking and making tomato sauces or paste out of. For a classic Italian tomato sauce we recommend using the San Marzano variety.

Beefsteak tomatoes - these are the most common type of tomatoes found in grocery stores. They are very large in size and are the best type for sandwiches due to their higher density. For exceptional taste and color, you can't go wrong with the Jet Star variety.

Another important differentiator between varieties is hybrids or heirlooms. Hybrid tomatoes are modern varieties that have been cross-pollinated to create unique species of fruit that offer the best disease prevention and will produce hearty yields. Heirlooms are classic varieties that taste and look great. It's important to know that if you plan on saving seeds to replant then you should choose an heirloom variety, you can tell if your variety is an heirloom by checking for the yellow heirloom ribbon on the front of the packet. Our customers love the Mortgage Lifter heirloom tomato.
