About- Red Ace Hybrid Beet is a robust, disease-resistant variety of beetroot that produces uniformly-sized, sweet, and tender roots. With vibrant green tops and deep red coloring, these beets are the perfect addition to any garden. Enjoy their best flavor at 3–4 inches, or let them grow larger and still have a sweet, delicious taste. Try Red Ace for amazing beets every time.

When and Where to Plant- Sow seeds outdoors as soon as soil can be worked in spring. Seeds will germinate in 5-10 days. Select an area with loose soils and full sun.

Care and Harvest- Harvest anytime after the root reaches 1 inch in diameter or as desired. Twist off the leaves rather than cutting to prevent “bleeding” which causes less intense color and perhaps less flavor.

Red Ace vs Detroit

I've had people complain that they don't like the earthy flavor of beets. They should try Red ace which to me are not earthy at all and sweeter then Detroit. Both types seem to be prone to leaf miners in my garden . I use little to none of pesticides. The red ace seem to give bigger beets then the Detroit.

Consistant

This is our third year growing Red Ace. It consistantly produces 4" perfectly round beets.

Red Ace Hybrid Beet

Hi......ordered a few packs along with some carrot seeds. Sowed in short rows and kept well watered. Beets came up in about 6 days. I put leaf mulch and some dehydrated manure in the soil and raked in well prior to planting. Keep the soil moist is key ...especially with the hot and dry conditions west of Phila. Next trick is to thin the plants, keep mulched and watered regularly. Goal is to have some to eat by late September. Thanks for the recommendation to buy this variety. chuck
