My best growing tomato

I am no professional tomato grower, in years past I have not had great success with growing larger - beefsteak type tomatoes. I grew these for the first time this year and they were fantastic. I have never had so many tomatoes and I am still picking them off the plants going into October (Zone 7). They were quite tasty and worked well with just about everything we made them with from BLT's to stewed tomatoes to tomato soup. The plants grew quite large and early in the season one stapped at the base in a strong wind. I took it, placed it in water for a week or so and then replanted it. It is still giving me tomatoes. Highly recommended.

Great tasting tomato

Growing Ramapo again after finding seeds at Rohrer’s. Great tasting and excellent yield. Tastes like summer in NJ. Our personal favorite hybrid. Thin skinned. Does not travel well

Ramapo F1 Hybrid Tomato

They germinated well and grew well, but hardly any tomatoes. I believe this was because we had a drought all summer.

Ramapo tomato seeds

Highly recommend! Ramapo seeds are not easy to find, but the Rohrer catalog always has them and at an extremely reasonable price. Seeds were delivered to my house in a week! No problems, no hassles. Absolutely would purchase from Rohrer again! A+!!!!!!!

Low Germination Rate

I haven’t had great success with the germination rate of the Ramapo Seeds this year. The Seeds I received previously from Rutgers University had a higher percentage of germination.

old favorite

Used to grow them in the 70's, then the seed disappeared for decades. Just re-discovered 3 years ago, and I'm back to growing my favorite of all time....Ramapo. They make me want to (and I have) bring a salt shaker out into the garden when they ripen. The flavor is awesome!

Love these for their flavor and hardiness

Ramapos remind me of the tomatoes my family raised when I was growing up in New Jersey. They taste great, and are very hardy. I have accidentally (through a poor growth medium) started seeds indoors and produced thin, leggy plants. No worries, buried deep in rich soil and they soon came back as strong vigorous plants. I cover the ground beneath the plants with something to keep the earth from splashing up on the plant and remove lower leaves to deter black spot. I have never lost a plant before the end of the season. They grow and produce continuously until killed by frost. Rather than pruning them into an upright habit, I cage them needing at least 2 cages or 5 feet of height. You can of course prune to contain their exuberance.

Love, LOVE these tomatoes!

I garden in Colorado and these tomato plants consistently produce very good crops with nice size that stays consistent through the growing season and has been very disease and crack resistant in my garden. In fact, I haven't had one crack yet and I've been growing them for about 5 years now. A++
