Ruby Queen Beet (200 seeds), Container Collection
About- Growing well in less-than-ideal conditions, this beet is a great option for new gardeners. Produces medium-dark red globes that hold their shape well when processed. Has dark red stems and dull green tops that can get up to a foot tall.
Planting- Plant in spring once soil temperatures have reached 45 and in fall at least 2 months before the first frost. When planting in rows, sow 15 – 18 seeds per foot and later thin to 1 plant per inch.
Care & Harvest- Beets prefer nutrient-dense and porous soils and require a lot of water to grow properly. Loosen the soil around beets to make harvesting easier, remove greens and cool as quickly as possible to prevent shriveling.
