Calabrese Broccoli Seeds
About- This heirloom variety is a well known among home gardeners as it is a very popular variety, commonly found at local produce markets. The large, dark green heads can grow up to 8" in diameter. Excellent eating qualities and flavor when grow as a fall crop.
When and Where to Plant- Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks prior to planting them in the garden. Plant seedlings outdoors 2-3 weeks before the last frost in the spring and for a fall crop in zone 6, direct seed mid to late May or plant transplants the first week of July.
Care and Harvest- Keep plants well watered throughout the growing season. Harvest when the buds of the head are firm by cutting the stalk of the main head at a slant. Eventually smaller side shoots will grow out from where the cut was made.
