Henderson's Baby Lima Bean Seeds
About- (Heirloom) Also known as butterbeans, Henderson's Baby Lima Beans were first introduced in 1889. Plants produce early and are very prolific. Excellent quality either for green shelling or as dry beans. Pods contain 3 to 4 small flat beans that are produced in great abundance until frost.
When and Where to Plant- Select a sunny location and plant when all danger of frost is past and the soil has warmed. For best results, loosen soil with spade or fork, fertilize with vegetable food and smooth over with a rake. Firm soil over seed and keep soil moist. For a continuous supply of fresh beans, plant every 3 weeks.
Care and Harvest- Grows best in a soil with a pH between 6 and 7, and just a light application of fertilizer. Do not over fertilize as this will cause an overgrowth of foliage and not allow pods to form. Water at ground level to reduce the probability of disease. Pick beans when the seeds have formed and the pod is firm when squeezed. Hold the stem with one hand and pick with the other hand to avoid tearing the plant.
