Amish Deer Tongue Lettuce (1,500 seeds), Container Collection
About- This slow to bolt Bibb-type lettuce was originally developed by the Amish and is commonly harvested as a loose-leaf variety. Rugged plants produce solid, compact ‘heads’ that have triangular green leaves with a pleasantly sharp flavor.
Planting- Plant in the spring or fall as lettuce prefers cooler temperatures. Start indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost for an early harvest. Grow 2 plants per 12” pot or use 6” in-row spacing for raised beds.
Care & Harvest- Grow in the spring or fall as warm temperatures may cause plants to bolt or go to seed. Water consistently and harvest individual leaves when they reach the desired size.
